TIP pinning pliers

TIP: For accuracy and control, take advantage of the curved nose: Grip the pin near its point, say 1/4" up, and position the pliers with the curve resting on the deck. BE SURE TO PLACE PADDING UNDER THE PLIERS, especially if the deck or its fabric covering is easily marked. Roll the pliers forward gently, keeping the jaws tightly squeezed together while you exert a steady downward force to insert the pin. Roll until the the nose of the pliers touches the deck (a minimum depth of 1/4" is required). If the pin needs to be deeper set, grab the pin and push in 1/4" increments. Don't start too high or the pin may bend. You can also use the pliers 'upside down' to swivel a shaped pin into position or out of the way.
