Hardware

Our installation life revolves around objects, tools, and hardware. Whether we're doing an installation on site or working in our shop, we rely on having at hand a selection of hardware to meet the various needs of mountmaking. We get much of what we need from the local hardware store, mill supply, and ironmongers - and we encourage you to do so as well.  For more specific needs, we offer drop clip channels for wall clips; aluminum hanging cleats for securely hanging large or heavy artwork, cases or text panels; security head screws with screwdriver and bits and brass security straps to secure paintings to the wall. All are designed to simplify your installation life, save time, and help your installation go more smoothly.

Drop Clip Channel

When you need to steady an artifact up against the wall (either on a shelf or with its own bottom clips), these little gems save more time and make an installation easier than you can imagine. Make a "drop-clip" with our 1/8"th. x 1/2"w. brass strap (as seen by the dotted clip in our drawing). Fit it to the shape of your object. Be sure to allow for padding as required. Screw the drop-clip channel into the wall behind the object. Put the art in place and slide the shaped "drop clip" into this channel. It secures the art gently but firmly in place.

Our Brass Strap 22-127 can be used to make the clips that fit each piece's 1/2" wide channel - click here to add to your cart.

Fabricated here in Rosemont, N.J.
Sold 6 per package.

Aluminum Hanging Cleat

By good fortune, we've been able to skirt most of the famous "supply-chain" problems that have characterized so much of covid years. But we've just run head-long into it with the Cleats. We've sold out what we had in stock and a timetable on getting another lot in was quoted as eight months. So, for now - alas - we are unable to offer them.

A strong, thin, two-part cleat designed for hanging text or photo panels or wall cases. Supplied as a single 6' length which, when cut in half, supplies 3' of mated cleat. One length is mounted to the wall, with the slot facing up (that's the bottom half of our drawing...we are the wall's-eye view); the other is mounted to the panel or case with the slot facing down. Hanging your panel is a now simple matter of lowering it onto the wall-mounted cleat so that the two cleats interlock. The joined profile is only 1/4" thick. The extrusion has holes at 1" intervals, ready for drywall screws. No countersinking is required.

Oversized shipping applies for this item. From one to sixteen cleats will fit in one large tube. We'll add 1 o/s charge to your cart.  If you need more cleats (say 17), we are into another tube. We'll add 2 o/s charges to your cart.

We believe we have fixed the O/S shipping charge problems so those charges should now be added to your cart automatically. If you still have problems placing your order, call 609-397-1131 or email us at ask@benchmarkcatalog.com.
